ABOUT THE MESILLA FILES
The Mesilla Files is an ongoing fictional mystery and storytelling project set primarily in Mesilla, New Mexico and the deserts of the American Southwest.
TMF combines real places, historical context and scientific ideas with original characters, fictional organizations, investigations, documents, photographs, recordings, artwork and unexplained events.
The story is presented differently from traditional fiction.
Rather than beginning with Chapter One and ending with a final page, The Mesilla Files unfolds as an investigation.
New evidence appears. Old documents are discovered. Investigators disagree. Questions that appeared settled sometimes reopen.
Some contributors appear in character, presenting events as though the investigation is occurring in real time.
TRC RESEARCH CENTER
At the center of the investigation is the fictional TRC Research Center in Mesilla, New Mexico, led by Dylan Carrillo.
TRC examines documents, photographs, recordings, historical accounts and other materials connected to the mysteries surrounding Mesilla and the Southwest.
Its approach is simple:
Follow the evidence. Separate what we know from what we suspect. Admit what we cannot explain.
The truth leaves clues. We follow them.
REAL PLACES. FICTIONAL MYSTERIES.
Mesilla is real.
The Organ Mountains are real.
White Sands is real.
The deserts of New Mexico and northern Mexico are real.
Historical events and scientific concepts appearing within TMF may also be real.
But The Mesilla Files itself is fiction.
Characters, organizations, documents and events created for the story should not be interpreted as evidence that those fictional people, organizations or events actually existed.
YOU ARE PART OF THE INVESTIGATION
There isn't one narrator telling you what to believe.
TRC may reach one conclusion. CTA may reach another. An investigator may question both.
And sometimes there simply isn't an answer.
That's intentional.
We provide the story.
You examine the evidence.
You decide what you believe.
